May 2021 Ordo

May is another busy month with Sts. Philip  and James starting off, following by the finding of the Holy Cross, then the Rogation Days, Ascension and Pentecost, and their Octaves. While busy, this month is somewhat more straightforward than April. A couple notes:

1. If you are unable to attend a Rogation day procession, the Litany, preces, and collect are said as on p. *116.

2. The very last day of the month, Monday May 31 is the day after Trinity Sunday and thus the first full blown feria in a while. On this day, you will need to switch back to the Suffrage of All Saints instead of the Commemoration of the Holy Cross.

3. Octave-tide is just around the corner!

April 2021 Ordo

This April is a busy month. Holy Week, Easter and its Octave. To be perfectly honest, this Ordo will be of limited value because there are just too many rubrics to consider during this time. You will need to keep your eye on what's going on. However, here are a few quick tips:

1. Starting Maundy Thursday and ending None of Holy Saturday (inclusive) the Gloria Patri is omitted from the end of the Psalms.
2. During the Triduum, Compline begins immediately with the Confetior and Absolution after which t the psalms are begun immediately. The Nunc Dimittis is also added to Compline during this time.
3. There are no commemorations permitted during the first three days of the Octave of Easter.
4. Starting after Easter, when the Suffrage is said, the Commemoration of the Cross is the suffrage used.
5. The ferias of Paschaltide all have proper Benedictus and Magnificat antiphons, but need not be commemorated if a higher ranked feast occurs.
6. The Litany of Saints is said after Lauds on the feast of St. Mark.
